Master's in Counseling

Today I found out that I am accepted into the Master's in Counseling program at West Virginia University for the Fall of 2008. So, when I return from Sudan, that is where I will be. After that I hope to work with counseling refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), either full-time or volunteer part-time and work in the school system full-time. So, I'm pretty excited that everything is coming together just in time to leave.

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far. I'm in St.Louis, MO visiting family for the week and then I will be in Austin, TX the following week visiting the other side of the family. Its great to see the family again.

Wine and Cheese Party Update

Thank you to all who participated in the Wine and Cheese party!!! Together you raised $3,900; and adding that to the THRIVENT matching funds up to $2,500, that is 6,400!!! I wish that I could have been there to see many of those who I have not seen in years. Hopefully I will get to catch up soon. Good Luck to Sarah Mueller on your audition for the Naval Academy orchestra (sorry I wasn't there to talk with you).

So, it looks like the money has made its total...I want to thank everyone who has helped me in this journey so far...now onto the next chapter...actually living and teaching in Ikotos, Sudan!

Thrivent matching funds raised

Because Mrs. Weizel is holding a Wine and cheese party fundraiser, Thrivent is willing to up the cap of the matching funds to $2,500! So if people make their checks out to Thrivent and send them to Trinity, their money will be doubled and I can possibly gain $5,000 to go to Sudan. That $5,000 will finish the fundraising just in time for the deadline! YAY!

Trinity team to the rescue

My church from home, Trinity Lutheran church in Bowie, MD, has answered the call to help with the fundraising for Sudan. As of late, they have connected with a LCMS organization called Thrivent, in which they will do matching funds up to $750. If collected the $750 will be worth $1500! So if anyone wants to send a check, written to Thrivent then send it to Trinity Lutheran Church, 6600 Laurel Bowie Road, Bowie, MD 20715. Thrivent is also pulling money from another fund which will be allocated to expenses such as immunization and school supplies.

Also, Bill and Judy Weizel are throwing a wine and cheese party at their house from 5pm-8pm, via Thrivent, to benefit my going to Sudan. Thank you both and thank you to those able to attend. I, however will not be able to attend because I will be on my way to St.Louis, MO at that time. So, I am extremely appreciative for all of this. :)

The next thing is that Trinity has another set of funds in which they may be able to pull from, which can cover the remainder of what I need. Then, the Trivent money can go towards my fixed bills at home. The council meets tomorrow to vote on this action, so please pray for them to approve it.
